Newport's Tomorrow founder, Tarin Nassaney, reflected on the incredible people in her life and chose an ambitious, driven, and passionate group of people to populate the Newport's Tomorrow Executive Board. These individuals represent a wide range of backgrounds, occupations, interests, and passions, giving Newport's Tomorrow a complex diversity.
Tarin is an Aquidneck Island native, studying to become a dentist at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine in Portland, ME. Tarin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Wellness from The University of New Hampshire, while receiving minors in Psychology and Deaf Studies. Passionate about her island and giving back to her community, Tarin decided to spearhead Newport’s Tomorrow, in the hopes of rallying her fellow young professionals that care about supporting causes in their community. Tarin enjoys outdoor activities, exploring New England, continuing her advanced yoga practice, cooking for her friends and family, and artistic wood burning.
Stefan is a Newport resident working at the Newport Yacht Club who manages/owns real estate in the Newport area. Stefan is an Aquidneck Island native; born in Newport, he lived in Portsmouth during his school years, and now resides back in Newport where he is establishing his career. He attended and graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Business Management.
Stefan is an avid supporter of local organizations, working closely with Gold Star Teen Adventures in Narragansett Bay. He is passionate about helping others and supporting causes, hoping to improve the lives of others. Stefan also loves animals, as the dog-dad of a beautiful rescue husky named Jorah. Stefan enjoys kayaking, cooking, and spending time with his friends and family, and he looks forward to being an active part of Newport’sTomorrow, as he continues to pursue his aspirations.
A born Mainer, Michael moved to Rhode Island in 2010 from Lowell Massachusetts to attend URI where he majored in ocean engineering with a minor in jazz piano. In the summer of 2011, Mike began working in the Newport restaurant scene where he continues to tend bar on the weekends at The Landing and Midtown Oyster Bar. In 2012 Michael joined the URI Big Band on trombone, and went on to perform at the Newport Jazz Festival in 2015. Later that summer Mike began working at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport as a mechanical engineer specializing in submarine SONAR, where he continues to work. Michael stays busy playing music locally and is committed to supporting local music and art all around Rhode Island.
Kara has been a "Newporter" her whole life. She currently teaches in Portsmouth and has been teaching on Aquidneck Island for 10 years. Kara holds a Masters of Arts in Special Education and has been recognized by the Newport County Regional Special Education Committee. In addition to teaching, Kara has also been published in local magazines and newspapers for her photography and environment initiatives. She enjoys playing on the Rhode Island Kickball League, skiing, golfing, cooking and currently resides in Portsmouth with her dog, Oakley.
